Keurig’s single serve brewing system currently leads the industry in sales and popularity among users. In fact the Keurig name has become synonymous with the single cup technology and much like “Q-Tip” or “Bandaid” has come to define the technology rather than just the brand.
The Keurig K60/K65 Special Edition Single Serve Coffee Maker is no exception. It provides superior performance in a single serve coffee maker with one touch control panel, 3 brew size options and a programmable on/off control.
Cons: Largest brew capacity is 10 oz. and will not fill a typical 16 oz. thermal travel mug, must buy keurig brand “k-cups”, no ability to use your own favorite coffee brand.
The Keurig K60/K65 Special Edition Single Serve Coffee Maker is user friendly and easy to set up and operate. The controls are easy to understand and the machine is easy to fill and brew a great cup of coffee. My only complaint is that though there are 3 brew sizes, the largest will not fill a typical 16 oz. travel mug, making it necessary to run 2 smaller cycles for a cup to go.
The overall style of the Keurig K60/K65 Special Edition is pleasant. In black and brushed silver, it compliments most kitchen décor and fits nicely on the counter and tucks beneath the upper cabinets nicely. The reservoir easily holds 60 oz. of water and it’s removable so there’s no worry of having to pull it out to refill it.
The Keurig K60/K65 Special Edition Coffee Maker is a solidly built machine and offers outstanding durability. This is a machine that will withstand heavy use over several years. It does require a small amount of maintenance such as descaling to remove hard water build-up, however that is typical with any coffee maker.
One really interesting feature of this coffee maker is its ability to be used to heat water for things other than coffee. It can easily be used to heat water to cook instant oatmeal, grits, and cream of wheat. It can also be used to brew things like tea and hot cocoa.
Keurig offers a 30 day money back guarantee on all of their products and supplies a toll free number for consumers to call if they are unhappy with their coffee maker. However, the customer is required to pay for return shipping. Also, I was unable to find information on any additional warranty information for this coffee maker.
Our Overall Rating: 4.5/5
Buyers should be aware that brewing a typical 16 oz. travel mug will require running the machine through two cycles, and using 2 K-cups for just 1 cup of coffee. However, that small issue aside, this is an excellent single serve machine. It brews a great tasting cup of coffee in a short amount of time. It offers a wide variety of choices in roasts and flavors for k-cups. It is overall a very stylish and durable coffee maker and is easy to operate. I would certainly recommend it for both home and office use and I consider it a great value when benefits are compared to price.
